Stocks slipped into the red again Thursday with the S&P 500 closing down just over 1%. Despite the drop, several rumours lifted select stocks on Wall Street today. Highlighted a few below:
Berry Corporation (NASDAQ:BRY) jumped nearly 10% on reports it is exploring options, including a possible sale. The oil & gas company is said to have hired a banker for the strategic review.
Credit Suisse (NYSE:CS) gained nearly 2% on reports it is looking for an outside investor to inject money into a spinoff of its advisory and investment banking business. The First Boston name may also be revived as part of the deal.
Nordstrom, Inc. (NYSE:JWN) was higher earlier in the session on renewed takeover rumours. In September, the retailer adopted a poison pill after Mexican peer, El Puerto De Liverpool (BMV:LIVEPOLC1), accumulated a nearly 10% stake.
