Real Estate Board data suggests regulatory FARE Act is hurting businesses and renters
New data about negative impacts of the broker-regulating FARE Act has its longtime opponent the Real Estate Board of New York saying “I told you so,” even as some of the group’s claims may be overstated. The trade group says the number of city listings plunged last month to 5,810, a 33% year-over-year drop from 8,506 in January 2025, a point in time before FARE took effect.
