Thailand's Securities and Exchange Commission has finalized regulations permitting Bitcoin and Ether exchange-traded funds (ETFs) to list on the Stock Exchange of Thailand starting October 16, 2026. The new rules require ETFs to maintain at least 80% exposure to one cryptocurrency and impose investor protections such as prohibiting margin loans for crypto ETF purchases. Only locally established ETFs will be allowed, with restrictions on foreign crypto ETF access for retail investors. This framework enables Thai investors to gain regulated exposure to Bitcoin and Ether without directly holding the assets, though fund managers must meet strict operational and custody requirements before launching ETFs.
